For this photography trip, the essentials of landscape photography and “environmental portraits” will be given emphasis. These include composing for visual impact, choosing the viewpoint, selecting the appropriate equipment, setting the camera, waiting for the right atmosphere and lighting, and building rapport with human subjects.

The pre-trip lecture will cover such topics as composition, design elements, photographic lighting, and camera settings, among others.

During the trip, participants will be shooting alongside the speaker-photographer. Additional tips on the aesthetic and technical aspects of travel photography will be given. As a culminating activity, a photography exhibit will be mounted at The Alcove photo gallery of the Filipinas Heritage Library.
