Cecile Licad ENCORE!

To celebrate the start of the new year with a bang – Cecile Licad, the Philippines most prominent and celebrated pianist will perform a one-night only special concert at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ main theater, the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo on January 28, Thursday at 8:00 pm.

This special concert is for the benefit of the Philippine-Italian Association’s Endowment Fund and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s United States of America 2016 Tour in June at the world renowned, Carnegie Hall.

A very special program under the baton of Olivier Ochanine features Rossini’s Overture to Italian girl in Algiers, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Not only is Ms. Licad supporting this great opportunity for the PPO, she will actually perform on the prestigious Hamburg Steinway grand piano. This much-admired instrument was shipped all the way from Long Island, New York for two other exclusive events last year, the concert at Santuario de San Antonio Church in October and the APEC Dinner for Heads of State in November.

PIA’s Endowment Fund was created in 2002 under the leadership of PIA President Zenaida Tantoco and is supported by generous patrons and sponsors who donate to the Fund. The growing number and needs of the underprivileged is a reality that cannot be ignored. Main beneficiaries are major charities organized by Italian-Filipino missionaries who provide food, housing, educational and medical needs for the “poorest of the poor”. Admirable self-funding projects are initiated by PIA and supervised by the Missionaries of the Servants of Charity, the Sisters Handmaids of Charity, the Canossian Sons of Charity.

Benevolent co-sponsors for this concert include the Cultural Center of the Philippines, as co- producer, Rustan Group of Companies, Calata Corporation, The Peninsula Manila, Starbucks, Royal Duty Free Shops, Inc. in tandem with Bvlgari, Megaworld Corporation, Mercedes-Benz, Philippine Tatler, SSI Group, Inc., Amanpulo and Anflocor Group of Companies.

Tickets are available at P5,000.00, P3,000.00, P1,000.00 and P500.00. Please call CCP Box Office 832- 3704 or TicketWorld 891-9999. You may also call the Secretariat Ms. Maricar Alamodin at 8952109, 8773412/07, 09175384508; ESAlamodin@rgoc.com.ph for tickets as well as if you wish to make a tax deductible donation.
